Delivering Gas Infrastructure Excellence for Northern Gas Networks

RJ Utility Services Ltd has proudly partnered with Northern Gas Networks (NGN) since July 2003, and is currently one of just four main contractors working under a long-term term contract for the North of England gas network.

Following a competitive tender, RJ Utility Services was awarded a new three-year contract — continuing its longstanding relationship with NGN.

Scope of Works

This wide-ranging Civil Engineering & Maintenance contract covers:

  • Minor excavations and light civil maintenance

  • Heavier civil works including streetworks, pipeline construction and mechanical installations

  • Fabrication, pipe laying, and connections

  • Full-service project delivery, including plant, labour, materials, management, and subcontractors

  • Delivery of occasional competitively-tendered “one off” major projects

The contract employs approximately 65 people and acts as a one-stop solution for NGN’s construction and maintenance needs.

Collaborative Approach

  • Monthly performance review meetings with NGN and peer contractors

  • Joint sharing of innovation and best practice

  • A bespoke training plan, developed with NGN, including in-house delivery of the Gas Industry Safety Health & Environment Passport scheme

  • Fully electronic invoicing and work submission, via a system co-developed with the client
